Heartbeats

In stark contrast to the boisterous effect of countless neon signs proclaiming their message in the streets, the magical way neon lights bounce off white in a round room with fluid edges can be quite tranquilizing. Accompanied by a soft whirring sound, this sinuously shaped neon light installation casts an interchanging spell of vivid colors over this space of quasi-science fiction, designed by the famous architect Zaha Hadid. In response to clichéd hotel interiors, Zaha’s masterstroke while creating this engaging hotel lobby explores the fusion of elements, forms and textures. Especially illuminated in pink hues, the floors, walls and furniture seem like one continuous surface; one seamless skin. Rounded in a single curve sweep, even a cantilevered bench doubles up as a table, merging and flowing into the walls. Leaning into this sinuous art work of winding shapes, how else could we catch the glow than by wearing minimalistic all-white ensembles? Sports inspired looks feature a short t-shirt dress with mesh insert for her, flanked by a zip jacket over a lightweight longsleeve and ripped white jeans for him. In the words of Leonardo da Vinci: “For those colours which you wish to be beautiful, always first prepare a pure white ground”
